Splinter Cell Review

Splinter Cell was a great game over all. There were a few things that got annoying after a while but for the most part it was really challenging and once I started playing the game, I couldn’t stop. The graphics are incredible, the game play is pretty good, and the story line is your basic one man hero action story that has to save the world. The story is about the country of Georgia and how they have come to have so much power, the U.S. thinks that something isn’t quite right so they send you in (Sam Fisher). It took me five days to beat but that’s only because I became so addicted to it. The game mainly deals with stealth. You have to stay hidden on most of your missions. Sometimes you are allowed to kill but other times you’re not so you knock people out. You also have to be careful what you do with bodies. If the mission is a stealth mission you most likely have to hide the bodies in the shadows so you don’t trigger any alarms.

The good things: Incredible graphics, very real looking night vision and thermal vision, there are some really neat gadgets that you get to use like wall mines and sticky shokers, controlling Sam is easy to get the hang of, you have a nice outfit : ), the storyline is somewhat fictitious but not bad, overall this game is really fun!

The bad things: No multiplayer capabilities, not enough weapons: the only two guns you have are a pistol (5.72mm SC Pistol) and an assault rifle (5.56mm SC-20k AR) I would like to see at least a nice sniper rifle. The other thing that got incredibly annoying is Irving Lambert, your debriefer and operations coordinator and hearing him say “this mission's over”….. “this mission's over”. I’d go through the game quicksaving it a lot. It’s not that easy, so every time you kill someone when you're not supposed to you get an earful from Lambert.

In the end I’d say to buy this game, but you may want to wait for the price to come down a little. I think games that don’t offer multiplayer should be cheaper because once your done playing them, chances are you’ll never play the game again. Below are some screenshots I took of the last map, which I think was the best looking map in the game.
