SimCity 4 Review

SimCity 4 is a great new addition to the SimCity series! The first time I saw screenshots of this game I was in awe of it, the textures looked so 3D-ish, the realistic-ness of the city and all the possibilities of the game looked so infinite! So I bought the game when it first came out played it for about 2 weeks straight and then took a break and probably played BF1942 or something and then I got bored of killing Nazis and decided to continue building my ever so expanding country of 2404 referenced city names like Punnytown, Dedfield, and DareD3ville. In SimCity 4 (unlike the other SimCity games) the gameplay and strategy is a lot more intense and even sometimes annoying than in the previous ones, and when I say “annoying” I mean like lowering taxes so senior citizens can live in better neighborhoods at a lower price than the upper class snobs (I tax those suckers like mad). But it’s not really “annoying” I suppose if you’re into organization and perfection this is one heckuva game for you.

Like I said I love this game to death but trust me you’ll take breaks and then get back to it a week later and enjoy it all the same. One thing that is really great about SimCity 4 is the fact that EVERYTHING is under your control, like let’s say you want to be a lousy mayor and legalize gambling, that will then slowly bring organized crime into your city, Or even worse tax the poor and praise the rich, that will even bring more crime into your city not to mention the loss of jobs, and even worse don’t pay your police station squat and watch them picket and protest outside the station while riots, drug dealers, flashers (oh yes flashers!), and murders roam about freely in the city of Punnytown (well not anymore I cleaned up most of the flashers). It really shapes and forms around the way you run it. If you’re a good guy and your up for spending the cash not on air polluting industrial waste makers, but on schools and libraries maybe you will raise up the next Einstein or Steven Hawking, Or if you want to pay the Police more, you will have a safer and more attractive place for people to live, its very enjoyable to see the cause and effects of your decisions. This game is really something special, I think anyone at any age (besides a toddler or someone who is mentally disabled) could play it (as long as you have a hefty system, like I said the graphics are good and there are a lot of things going on at a time). And so that’s my opinion on SIM CITY 4! I give it a 9/10: for excellent fun gameplay, with very few but some annoying drawbacks!
