Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Review

It’s been quite a while since I played a Star Wars game, and I have to admit I always enjoy playing them. From what I here Jedi Academy is very similar to Jedi Outcast but I’ve never played that. Anyways, let’s get to the game. What I really liked about this games was the hours upon hours it gives you of game play, and the fact that it has both single player and multiplayer modes.. I always think less of a game if it doesn’t have a multiplayer portion included. The main reason behind that is because usually once you complete a game without multiplayer, chances are you’ll never pick up that game again and play it. I liked almost all of the missions, only needing to look at a walkthrough twice because I was stuck.

A brief description of the game: You are Jaden (you can customize your character to make him look like whatever you choose) training to be a Jedi, along with your new friend Rosh. As the game moves on Rosh becomes lost and you eventually find out that he has gone to the dark side. You have to go through many training missions and eventually become a Jedi Knight. Further into the game you can actually decide which side of the force you want to be on, but that doesn’t happen until you are near the end of the game. Kyle is your “master” who is in charge of you and your training. Besides Rosh falling to the dark side there is another big problem dealing with a sith lord that has been dead for many years and I won’t go much further than that, so I won’t spoil to many things.

There is a good selection of weapons to choose from. You get to pick a few to take with you on every mission. The thing I liked the most about the weapons was you would do into first person mode automatically when selecting a gun or grenade and it would switch back to third person when you switch to a saber. You will most likely be using a light saber for most of the game. There are three different kinds of sabers: the single, dual sabers and the double ended one all have multiple styles and colors to choose from. You also get to strengthen your force powers along before the start of each mission. You can choose any force powers you want; I chose to have a mix with more power in the light side.

Pros:
-Good missions
-Pretty good graphics
-Many missions with hours of gameplay
-Good weapon and force power variety
-Challenging game
-Secret Areas
-Multiplayer

Cons:
-There is only one way to do a mission, some of the newer games are trying to work away from this
-Graphics could be better
-Cut Scene graphics aren’t very great but not too bad

My score is 7/10
