In addition to the announcement that FEAR has gone gold, there is also
some information on the game's various international versions, as well
as word on a multiplayer demo.
In the United States and Europe, there will be a Director's Edition
(not necessarily carrying that name), shipping on DVDRom. This DVD
version will include a comic book, interviews with a game character, a
"Making of" documentary, a Developer's Commentary video, and a
machinima short from the guys who do Red Vs. Blue.
Meanwhile, the US will also see a release on CDRom, but since pricing
for the two versions appears to be equal FEAR should prove a good
reason for ye olde CDRom drive users to finally make the ~$30 switch to
DVD drives. Last but not least, there is word of the US CD version also
being released in another form, which includes an additional DVD with
artwork and a walkthrough guide for the game.
A bit of FEAR for everyone then, with the game release set for October 18. Until then, you can play the
single player demo,
but if that should be too much of a fright for you to handle, Vivendi
announced that a multiplayer demo will be released late this month.
