Darwinia v1.42 retail patch

Introversion has released a "Darwinia" patch, bringing the innovative strategy game up to version 1.42. The patch is for the retail version of the game. If you have the Steam version, it will automatically be applied.

"This patch adds a new Difficulty setting to the game (which internally we had under the codename "Submission Mode"). Difficulty level 1 is standard, and it goes all the way up to 10. Higher difficulty levels makes the enemies faster and tougher, as well as making more of them to deal with. Enemy spawners like the Triffids, Egg layers etc will spawn new Virii at a faster rate. You can find this Difficulty setting in the Options window under "Other Options". Play on Difficulty 10 and experience Darwinia on Steroids!"

We've also fixed some bugs:
  • Problem which would cause a save game to crash on load, due to Squaddies being in transit (between Radar Dishes) at the time of the save
  • Bug on the final level (Temple) which placed one of the enemy Spawn Points outside the Population Lock. This would result in more and more enemies spawning on the island - with no upper limit.
  • A few other small bugs
The full changelist can be found here, and you can download the 1.52MB patch from the official site.
