DEFCON v1.4 Patch

Introversion Software has released a new patch for "DEFCON," bringing the highly rated strategy game to version 1.4.

"The new patch provides cross-platform interoperability, enabling Windows users to wage nuclear Armageddon against fellow Mac players. Linux users will also soon be able to join in the fun, with the release of the Linux version due around the end of April.

Following on from the successes of Uplink and Darwinia, Introversion has teamed up with Mac publisher Ambrosia Software, to bring DEFCON to the Mac. “We really strive to make our games accessible to as many people as possible, so this version was an important priority for us, and we’re looking forward to welcoming some newcomers to DEFCON”, confirmed Chris Delay, creative director at Introversion. DEFCON Mac will be available to buy online from Ambrosia Software's website at a price of $25.00.

The new version will also include amBX support for PC players. This great new technology from Philips allows the gamer to use dedicated amBX hardware to control the light, colour, sound and even air flow of the surroundings."

Mark Morris, Managing Director at Introversion said, “DEFCON’s already an extremely atmospheric game, but when I saw what the amBX team had done with it I was blown away. You can’t really describe amBX in words – you have to play with it – but this enhancement to DEFCON really increases the feeling that you are hidden deep underground in a nuclear bunker. If you think DEFCON was immersive before, just wait until you play it in a darkened room with the amBX kit plugged in”.

The 1.8MB retail patch can be downloaded from the official site. The Steam version will be updated automatically.
