Electronic Arts has announced that around two million copies of "Madden NFL 07" have been sold in the first week, bringing in $100 million.

"Developed in Orlando by subsidiary EA Tiburon, unit sales of the game were up 12 percent over the 1.8 million units sold during a comparable period in 2005. Also, the first-week sales performance was the best in the 17-year history of the game franchise.

According to Microsoft, online play of Madden NFL 07 on the Xbox 360 is breaking records. Microsoft says more than 2 million hours of online game play has been logged within five days of the launch, which is the equivalent of 228 years of online gaming in less than a week.

Jill Hamburger, vice president of gaming at Best Buy, says Madden NFL 07 continues to grow in popularity with customers."
