Beta Report 5/25/03

Hi, Once again it is time for a weekly update on what is happening in the world of Beta testing.

Final Fantasy XI

For a couple years now this game has been running quite successfully in Japan with over 200k paid subscribers. The latest News from Square Soft and Sony Inc. is that the open Beta will be beginning shortly. PS2 and PC will be the only platforms in North America that you will be able to play this game on.

Now, for those that were hoping to get in on this for the PS2, I hate to say it, but the selection process is now completed BUT they will be beginning shortly selecting people for the PC version IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY APPLIED. If you didn't get your application done sorry, but you are SOL at this point.

Now, a couple of quick points before I put up the Link the future location of the Website. If you own a PS2 you are going to have to purchase a special Memory attachment that links to the back of your unit. There has been no public announcement about the price attached to it, but I would figure that it will be between 75 and 150 dollars (USD). Please do not take this as Gospel; this is only a rough estimate. Add on your fees for connecting through the Sony Network PLUS the Monthly Fees attached to this program......well, it will be expensive to play on a PS2.

Anyways, if you want to take a peak at the game. Look here:

Priest

Ok, this is a very interesting concept game with ALOT of religious overtones to it. This is currently a very popular Comic book series in Korea that has been converted over into a MMORPG game.

The basics of the game, in typical down and dirty fashion that you have come to love, is this game will be the ultimate battle of Good and Evil. The game will take place at a time in the wild west of North America (Mainly in the US Wild west to be more accurate). To read the story line in greater detail, please use the link below.

Now, this game will be entering Beta shortly, so if you have any interest in playing this I suggest you get in and get your application in as quickly as possible.

Here is the Site Link, I hope you enjoy the read, I certainly did:

Ok, that is about it for games coming to beta within the next few weeks. Final Fantasy will probably be quite popular, so chances for people that have limited experience will probably not get a chance to play in the early stages. Priest on the other hand has not really drawn a lot of attention, so for those looking to get into the Beta Testing ranks should apply there, even if they are not really interested. Who knows, it might turn into a pleasant surprise.

Anyways, as usual, I would like to thank MMORPG.com. I use this site a lot for my research. Please take some time to look it over; it is a great site for looking at MMO style games.

I will see you all very soon,
Christian
